Hooray, Nosferatu
At the centre of Hooray, Nosferatu is a six year old girl with Dravet syndrome, a rare condition that causes severe epileptic seizures which due to their frequency result in developmental delay.
Vida’s disorder dictates a specific daily routine for her father, mother and teenage brother. It brings stigma and rejection from the social environment (even closest relatives). The family members tackle this in each their own way. Vida’s father Aleš, a writer by profession, subconsciously includes his fears and feelings of guilt in his stories. Vida’s seizures and his fear for her life grow ever more evident in a crime story about a mysterious murder in which a resigned alcoholic defendant Aleš is prepped for his appearance in court by a young attorney Vida.
